Trail Racer

Fast, light, stiff.

With 60mm / 2.35” of travel with progressive spring rate and its sub 990g / 2.18lbs weight, the patent pending Lauf Trail Racer is a unique match with today’s lightweight XC mountain bike frames.

Zero Maintenance

The design of the Lauf forks is based around eliminating all “moving parts”, and therefore, friction and maintenance. You can ride without worries through sand, salt, desserts and ice - the performance will stay the same.

The monocoque carbon fiber structure delivers incredible strength, and the test-fork we have in our lab has already been “shocked” over 170 thousand times, without showing any signs of wear and tear. That equals more mountain-biking than you’ll manage to cram into at least 5 years of action!

S2 Springs

The springs on the Lauf forks are made of military spec S2 glassfiber that is extremely tough on hits and flexible in the direction of the travel. The springs have been “shocked” in our test lab over 400.000 times reaching 40mm amplitude every time.

Progressive Spring Rate

The Lauf Carbonara has 60mm of travel with progressive spring rate. This means that the further the fork compresses the springs become stiffer. This helps keeping the fork from bottoming without sacrificing small bump compliance.

Plus Tire Compatibility

The TR Boost can take full on 27.5+ tires as well as 29+ tires up to 2.8” wide. Some 29x3” tires will also fit but as tires are different from brand to brand you need to measure the tire beforehand.

Cargo Mounts

We do not have cargo mounts on our forks but there are 3rd party solutions that can be used. For instance the Twofish Unlimited Quick Cage adapters that can be used with a broad variety of cages.

4.5 out of 5!
"The advantage of the combination was that the bike was very light, and on single tracks it feels like you are the king. On Dutch trails the Lauf Trail Racer is absolutely recommended. And another advantage of the system is that it requires no maintenance!"

Mathijs Wagenaar -

"The Lauf’s leaf springs mean there’s absolutely no loss of feel from sticky moving parts – the Lauf lets the wheel track the ground unhindered by additional friction, resulting in a buttery smooth ride."

"Likewise, with no moving parts, maintenance is a non-issue – there’s simply nothing to maintain"

Tom Marvin -

"During climbs and powerful acceleration the Lauf feels almost as a rigid fork. The responsiveness the lightweight fork adds to bike, is lightning fast. You must be both super sensitive and petulant to notice some flex."

Gauter -

Allt Om MTB

"I think it is crazy fun to ride, the quick and sensitive characteristics make the bike feel incredibly fast. How it will turnout on the stopwatch, I think depends on the terrain. But it if you have 8490SEK, and think that riding a bike is the best there is, you have to go for it. I am going to test it in some of the longer races in the upcoming season and I hardly believe that I will be disappointed."

Mountain Bike Action

"Coming off of Specialized's carbon rigid fork, the Trail Racer was a welcome addition and actually made the bike more fun and comfortable, allowing us to ride longer. On most cross country terrain, the Trail Racer eats up small chatter without question, and the undamped rebound speed didn't cause any problems. While soaking up small chatter, the fork still felt very stiff laterally when torquing on the handlebars out of the saddle."

"This is the lightest cross-country fork I’ve ever ridden and I’d be happy to run one for racing, trail centres and buff, swoopy singletrack."

"Definitely a really interesting product, a third alternative between classic 100 mm fork and rigid fork. Really useful for trails which are not too difficult, bunch of XC races outside mountains area, this fork is reactive and absorbs bunch of frequently met bumps. [...]
No maintenance needed, good for muddy conditions as well with a construction without bridge, the Lauf TR29 is a must have if you are looking for a lightweight but ridable bike."

"The fork is a masterpiece of simplicity." "In my view, a very comfortable rigid fork or a suspension fork for extreme purists - depending on which way you look at it, and thus a serious alternative for all those considering a move from conventional suspension forks to rigid ones, but fear the transition."

"It’s certainly not for everyone, but neither is a long travel fork with dual compression and rebound adjustments. After riding it, I think they’re onto something and can fill a niche in the XC scene."
